3 Gratitude Questions You Can Use Every Day

If you’ve read any of my other posts, you know that gratitude is a powerful practice that can transform the way we see the world around us. It can shift our focus from what we lack to what we have. This helps us have a positive outlook on life and enhances our overall well-being. Rather than thinking & acting from a place of lack, we think and act from a position of abundance. And as I always say, where attention goes energy flows. Meaning that what we focus on grows. So if we’re focusing on the things that aren’t working or things we don’t like, we’ll continue to see those things & vice versa.

One of the simplest and most effective ways to incorporate gratitude into your daily life is by keeping a gratitude journal. If you don’t have a gratitude journal, you can get one in my shop, along with a huge list of gratitude prompts.

If you don’t know where to start, you can begin by asking yourself three key gratitude questions each day. These questions are simple and can be used repeatedly for as many days as you want.

Before you begin, I suggest setting a goal for yourself. Maybe try doing this for 1 week straight. Pick a time when you have 10 minutes to yourself (I like doing this when I have my coffee in the morning) and make a ritual out of it. If after a week you find the timing didn’t work, try something else.

I also suggest writing down your answers. A gratitude journal is a really great tool because you can look back and reflect on different times in your life. You can see where you started from and where you are now.

One last thing I like to tell people is to try not to be too judgmental of yourself. If you miss a day or you can’t think of anything to write…it’s ok. You can try again the next day. This is a practice. It isn’t meant to be perfect.

1. What am I grateful for today?

This is the most fundamental question of daily gratitude. Take a moment each day to reflect on the things, people, or experiences that you're grateful for. They can be significant or small, personal or universal. The act of identifying and acknowledging your daily blessings can immediately uplift your mood and remind you of the abundance in your life.

If you can’t think of anything right off the bat, you can start with the fact that you are still alive. And when you’re still alive, it means you still have life to live and a purpose to fulfill.

2. Who am I grateful for today?

This person can be living or on the other side. It can also be a pet, or yourself! All questions are up to your own interpretation.

Expressing gratitude for the people (or pets) in your life is a powerful way to strengthen your connections and enhance your own well-being. Whether it's a family member, friend, coworker, or even a stranger who brightened your day, recognizing their positive impact can deepen your relationships and create a ripple effect of kindness.

If you want to take it a step further, you could call/text/tell the person you wrote about how much you appreciate them or give your pet a big squeeze.

This is your process and you can do as little or as much as you want.

3. What is one thing I can be grateful for today?

Gratitude isn't limited to just people. You can be grateful for literally anything that is in your life. It can be something as simple as the breath you breathe, or the trees that make oxygen, or the new kitchen appliance you got that makes your life a little easier…or the new lemon ginger tea you got from the store that tastes so delicious. Any and every thing you can think of that has had some sort of positive affect on your life (or even a challenge you overcame) can be worthy of your praises of gratitude.

I hope you can find some time to incorporate these three gratitude questions into your daily routine. They can have a profound impact on your mindset and overall well-being. They remind you of the abundance in your life, strengthen your relationships, and encourage personal growth even in challenging moments.

By practicing gratitude every day, you'll discover a deeper sense of contentment and a more positive outlook on life.
