“If you hear a voice within you say ‘you cannot paint,’ then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced.”
Vincent Van Gogh
Want to do expressive arts with a group?
I am a firm believer that the arts can be used as a tool for many things and that EVERYONE has the innate ability to create! From stress relief & relaxation, maintaining mental wellness, exploring your inner landscape, to learning something new about yourself or visioning what you want for the future we can tailor your group session to meet the needs of what you are looking for.
Research has shown that engaging in art can have the following benefits:
reduces cortisol levels, relieves stress & lowers blood pressure
decreases pain perception
improves psychological resiliency
improves overall mood
increases levels of self-esteem & empowerment
Typically group sessions last from 1-3 hours depending upon what you’re looking for and/or the activity chosen. In addition to art making, I occasionally like to use writing, light movement & meditation when appropriate. I tailor everything to your needs and meet you exactly where you are. You absolutely do not need to have any previous art experience to gain the benefits of a group activity!
Group Sessions can be held online or in person.
Examples of groups: hospital & healthcare team building/stress relief workshops, office groups, birthday parties, bachelorette parties & organization meetings.
Really any sort of group you have! We can come up with either individual projects that everyone takes home or a group project that stays either at the organization or is a gift for someone.
While making art is inherently therapeutic, I am not a therapist and what I offer is not therapy.
The following are samples of art making practices I have used with clients & different groups over the years.
Testimonials
I attended a Yoga + Mandala making workshop led by Cat at Intent Space and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Cat makes mandala making accessible for all and holds excellent space for healing. Through the process of visualization, mandala creation, and journaling, I was able to tap into and become aware of underlying emotional currents and express and work through them in a healthy, healing way. Thank you Cat.
